"SAH doesn't support change, it supports going backwards to the 1950's,"

Statement in a post below.

I wholeheartedly disagree. To me, SAH is a choice. How is that going back to the 1950s, when a lot of women didn't have much of a choice.

Feel free to list the Judaic celebrations which do not include feasts. Scripture references are fine.

And, how could I reject such a sweet and sincere apology as that?

And again, it was a response to Lois. Initially I can feel sadness that no one acknowledged it but I can then tell myself that people don't know my feelings unless I make it known, so there's really nothing to care about. No one intentionally hurt anyone, I know that.

How do the two relate? I don't know any school where the perfect attendance awards have anything to do with the PTO or volunteers at all. It is strictly through the district.

No, I would expect your comments to be at least marginally respectful of the part of her life she shared in the post to which you were responding. My bad for having high expectations, I guess.

I don't see expressing my personal opinion on the subject, complete with "I just think" as a "this is an opinion" flag, sets myself up as the judge of anything. I sincerely doubt you have the privilege of making judicial appointments.

She shared the part about her Mom after I made the general comment about people using the excuse of traditions to eat more food.

"I sincerely doubt you have the privilege of making judicial appointments."

LOL. Did I say I did?

Um, no...you didn't. What you said was

"I think people overemphasize traditions in regards to food. Gives them an excuse to consume more food than they normally would have on those days."

And you said it in DIRECT RESPONSE to a post where lois explained how the traditions regarding food in her personal experience fostered a feeling of closeness within her family, and how important those traditions were to her, personally.

I guess there was a misunderstanding. I thought you meant the post about her mother's passing.

"And you said it in DIRECT RESPONSE to a post where lois explained how the traditions regarding food in her personal experience fostered a feeling of closeness within her family, and how important those traditions were to her, personally."

Again, a general comment. I didn't specifically say it was about her. Why do you feel that I did?

i don't think that anyone can reasonably argue that perfect attendance awards can only be given out at the district level; in fact, i doubt there are many districts that would find examining attendance records for perfection and issuing attendance awards a good use of district-level staff time and resources. i have seen attendance awards administered at the classroom (teacher) level, and most often at the school (principal, administrative staff, or parent organization) level, but never at the district level.

so, i guess we are left with a good old round of she said, she said. that said, you might want to go back and edit the bit where you said your kids' school administers your attendance awards, now that you are so concerned with asserting that it is their district that does so.

I personally took the SAT in the spring of my junior year, because that was when it was offered and when my guidance counselor told us we should be taking it. I took it in Tel Aviv, and i don't know if the international aspect made a difference in timing. Since it was when my school told us we needed to take it, I did not consider it to be a risk taking it then.

I'm sure my senior looks at things the same way. He school says this is when he should take it, so I don't see how that is a risk to him or his 1000 fellow seniors. Since his school has students go everywhere from Yale to Rice to Duke, to Tarrant County Junior College and UTA, and they all test on the same schedule, the systems seems to work for them.

<<I never said that the form was always a pizza coupon. My children have had way more "awards" than pizza coupons. The pizza coupons do not even remotely excite my kids. It is the big prizes - swimming/movies/limo rides/pajama day - that get the most attention from my kids. >>

Well, I see the point of my post was missed, it wasn't about how "big" the awards can get in terms of getting stuff as rewards, in fact quite the opposite.
