"SAH doesn't support change, it supports going backwards to the 1950's,"

Statement in a post below.

I wholeheartedly disagree. To me, SAH is a choice. How is that going back to the 1950s, when a lot of women didn't have much of a choice.

Yes, *some* people marry at 18 and have strong marriages and *some* people who marry at 30 end up divorced. However, overall- marriages of 18-19 year olds are more likely to end in divorce and marriages of 30 yearolds are not.

Where are the stats to support your point about the dds of working mothers?

I hardly think the daughters of sahms have low self esteems and fewer educational goals in comparison.

A wohm isn't the only good role model for a young girl. What do most people on their death beds wish they had done? Work more? I don't think so. Spend more time with our loved ones. I feel that setting the example that people matter is being a very positive role model. The most unhappy people are the self absorbed ones who focus all their attention on what they want. Disclaimer: I am not saying wohms are self absorbed.

Where is FICA in your budget? Given your assumed income, your federal tax bill would be minimal (you may even qualify for extra $) and I don't know the state taxes in your state- but $1300 a month here would have minimal state taxes. Also missing from your hypothetical budget is NRUE (non recurring unexpected expenses) - like a car repair bill.

You say that currently you live in a higher costs area nad that you would move to a lower cost area. However, you are using the income estimate from your current higher cost area- if you move to a lower cost area your income usually drops accordingly.

I don't doubt that you would be able to "make it" and survive - I just think you are not being totally realistic. It is great that you have a family to back you up - not everyone does.
