"SAH doesn't support change, it supports going backwards to the 1950's,"

Statement in a post below.

I wholeheartedly disagree. To me, SAH is a choice. How is that going back to the 1950s, when a lot of women didn't have much of a choice.

I am aware of that. I was just trying to get kbmamn to back up her claim for once. It's hard to provide a study to support a stereotype....;-)

IKWYM. My FIL focused everything on his business and what he wanted to do with it. And now he's alone and starting to regret it now that grandchildren are starting to appear.

I also know you don't need to be a SAHP to be able to focus on your children. Plenty of WOHP do it just fine out there. It's the balance you make between home and work that is the key.

ITA. But I also want my kids to feel confident they can make a buck, and for that there's no better model than WOH.

I never thought about that.

I thought once children came along (or after you WOH for a short period), family was so much more important than your career that you gave up your career entirely to SAH.

I feel very feminine because I can raise my children and WOH.

I think you'd be wise to encourage any dds (AND ds) to be very career-focused, at least early on.

Honestly, I wouldnt want to stoop so low as to be a stripper in order to put food on the table. You do what you have to do, sure. But by having work experience and/or education, you can usually avoid the worst scenario.
