Yeah and as these things always go...you'll be the first to care (probably very loudly and with alot of whine behind it) when the situation you didn't care to negatively impact, negatively impacts your children. I'm sure it will continue to be all about you and yours indefinitley.
The people holding the sterotype aren't idiotic if African Americans eat alot more fried chicken, than any one else, are they? Every situation that doesn't reflect *favourably* upon some group isn't a stereotype. If the situation fits the reality, its not a *sterotypical* situation its just a *typical* situation. Women quitting their jobs because they had babies - that is really no stereotype. Its actually pretty darn typical.
Sure. And in 20 yrs when my son gets the promotion rather than her daughter, she can blame me for not raising a boy who would be a sahp in order to make reality reflect more favourably on her daughter.
You just described your own situation. No matter how hard you try to squeeze that high heel onto her foot...it will never fit. You were a sell out who just went where droves of women go all the time, because you couldn't hack it. And by all accounts, you still can't. Grimal, on the other hand, is going where few people of any description, ever go. There are entire school systems currently actively trying to entice technical professionals away from their fields and into teaching. Tragically for you, most of the ones they aquire are male. Oh well. Nice try. But your jealousy is showing.
Ok you *managed* to quit your job and through alot of effort, manage to hide from all the new jobs trying to find you. Wow. I can see how that is just exactly the same as some woman who spent 25yrs in a male dominated field...and THEN just went and reeducated herself in order to persue a second professional full time career. Get a grip. Seriously.
Of course not. In order for something to be stereoptypical, it either has to be commonly done (ie actually typical) or it has to be believed to be commonly done because it was once. So full well expect femal engineers to become teachers after 2.5 decades? Really? What planet you on?

I am not disagreeing with your assessment on this side (women stepping up to the plate), but I still hold there are issues on either side.
