No, what I meant is that for a man to admit he is being provided for, and his money is just for fun - would more than likely be shameful to him - because men are brought up feeling it is their ROLE to be provider.
Of course it is not shameful to you or your DH, because he *is* the provider.
Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color. Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.
I took off two years to plan & have our wedding, go on our honeymoon and we bought a house & I decorated it.
All three, not just our wedding. Our wedding was lovely & nice, but it wasn't all that grand. I didn't need to take off work to plan it either. I just went on & quit.

i had a little chuckle too...i continued to woh-ft...when we got married in 1989 + honeymoon in Hawaii, bought our house in 1990, had first child in 1991, 2nd in 1994, 3rd in 1995 -- all through, i continued woh-ft + one class per semester grad school + adult ed (one night per week -- fun stuff with friend)....i only took off maternity leave (8 weeks) with each of 3 children.
of course, this time when i buy my first home -- all by MYSELF -- i don't need to move at all, LOL...however, i am working hard with my sister's help to get it in shape for the appraiser.
I dont mean to pry, but im not sure what you do to "get ready for the appraiser". I am under the impression(as i look at appraisals all day long at work), they look more at the home structurally, ie: sq footage, age, #bdrms, formal rooms etc...kwim?
p.s. lauren sent me a picture of you and the kids. now i can "picture" you when reading your posts!! you all look so happy together and pretty too!! cant wait to meet!

DHs colleagues were leaving for Bay ARea for 6 digit jobs; they're now struggling to find contracts for 40K with no benefits.

Okay. You've mentioned it twice now so I have to ask. (I'm not trying to offend, just genuinely curious. Very curious)
You took "years" off for your wedding? I think I only took the day before off. And took a week's vacation for my honeymoon.
I'm just

I'm sorry but that really doesn't clear it up for me.
I moved this weekend. I took 2 days off.
The other two times I've bought a house I haven't taken more than 2-3 days off.
I dont' mean to pick at you (you've been a nice addition to this board) but this is really a concept I can't wrap my mind around ...
