Hmm. More work for less pay and less flexibility. Plus you had Ed School tuition. So, why was this such a great move?

Hmm. Decorating is one thing but pulling down panel, ripping out carpet and stripping wallpaper, that is entirely another. If you couldn't afford to hire that out, I think you really needed that play money.

The fun of buying an old house is DOING IT YOURSELF!

We didn't want to hire it out. Yes, we could have afforded to do so. But we wanted to work on the project ourselves.

I guess you can't grasp the idea of enjoying the task of remodeling all on your own that you would hire it out & walk in just to put up the draperies & wall art?

We are now doing it for a second time. We've bought an even older home with more to do than we had in that first one. It is fun & challenging at the same time.

To think we still have all of my salary as play money to boot.

That's not decorating girl! That's remodeling. Which is a whole 'nother ball of wax.

I was envisioning

Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.  Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.

No. I was doing big stuff. It was fun. I can't imagine hiring someone to do it as Opinion123 suggested.

Well then, did your husband quit his job too...so y'all could work on the project "yourselves"?

I have a problem with women who grow up expecting to have someone else support them, and planning their lives around the idea that *someone else* will support them and theirs.
