nor did you address anything of substance in my post.
why do you think that what the parents are doing while the children are there defines whether a program is educational or daycare? do you think that degreed and certified educators who run educational curriculums attended by children who have as well as don't have sahps are educators or dcps or both, and how do you rationalize that?
my point is that there can be a great deal of similarity (and sometimes no difference whatsoever) between some "preschools" and "daycares," as well as a great deal of difference between programs in each "category," so your broad-brush assesment is impossible.
That's okay...use away.
My kids are also in school, more hours than I work and then add afterschool activities on top of that (scouts, chess, band, and sports), it's way more hours.

Perhaps re-read it...So you do not agree that there are many different ppl/ professions careers even objects that teach children? i guess we disagree then.
There is no such thing as a perfect teacher so i guess your not as lucky as you seem to think.
Define perfect...beyond improvment.
The limits of your language are the limits of your world.
The more I've seen and heard about NCLB, the more I feel utter demoralized :-(.
My older child is in 5th grade so I only know the Swedish system fairly well up to that point. They only started having tests of any kind last year and only had 3 or 4 during the entire year. In 5th grade they do a national assesment for the first time, the national tests cover Swedish, English and Math and I have noticed that the curriculum this year has a somewhat stronger emphasis on those subjects but that's about it....
You are taking my post's out of context.
i never said that i think what the parents is doing sah wah woh defines the choice between daycare or preschool. It is the enviornment the structure of that choice.
I have said exaclty what you said in your last statement and directly to you...
Many many preschools are daycares and many daycares are preschools. i also think for the younger ones the time at the facility also makes a difference.
So what are you debating.
