Hmmm, well, "caring for children" or "providing childcare". Guess I don't see the big difference.

Any school or daycare is going to be doing a combination of caring and educating, to the extent necessary and appropriate for the ages involved. Your efforts to draw some huge distinction between daycare providers and teachers/other staff at elementary schools or preschools is a bit strained and artificial.

You can say that educators are not DCPs 1000 times, and it won't matter, because not ONE person said that an educator IS a DCP.

I think I want to work for the govt in some capacity when I do graduate. Haven't decided what yet, but I'll figure it out!

Most of it has to do with being more intersted in the government than litigation or being a corporate attorney, but the hours being more reasonable definately plays a part. I dont want children for a couple of years, but theyre certainly a consideration of mine.

I spent the summer working at a litigation firm just to make sure it really wasnt somethiing I wanted to do....had the doubt beat right out of me. Lol. Just wasnt my cup of tea. And then to spend 80 hours a week doing it? No thanks!

Did you know that I have to go uphill, both ways, in the snow, while nursing my 2 children, just to buy cloth diapers? And then I come home to bake bread and make jam and butcher an animal. So I can live off of it. Noone has it harder than I.

I doubt a straight answer to a straight question will happen in this lifetime. When the topic of a teenager paying for his/her own speeding ticket is answered with something to the effect of mom cleaning up children's spilled milk....you know you're not even on the same playing field.

So, then, how does work status have *something* to do with raising your children in terms of the actual outcome?

Excuse me...it wasn't milk. It was Kool-Aid.

Get your facts straight if you're gonna play.

Are you sure? Why would anybody punish a child for spilling kool-aid? I'd rather my child spill it than actually drink it!

So would I. I'd actually punish mine for being within 10 feet of it. I seem to remember, from my property management days, that it's hell to get out of carpet, though.

I suppose people who would actually allow kids to drink the stuff don't care where they drink it....mine aren't supposed to be drinking anywhere but in the kitchen or dining room. Come to think of it, if they ever did spill kool-aid in my house, doggone right they'd be paying for the damages! They'd be breaking about ten rules, just having it someplace where I'd ever figure out they had it, lol!
