Then perhaps you'd like to borrow my loom. I find that the cotton diapers I weave from my organic cotton crop are much softer than the ones you find commercially.

I've adapted the loom so you can weave and nurse at the same time.

that is not the traditional elementary school my kids have been in - in our shcool the teachers in no way focus only on the fundamentals, they get down and play with the kids, they give hugs to upset children, they tend to cuts and scrapes and hurt feelings. they eat lunch with the kids, they care for and about them as well as educating them. eevery teacher my elementary school aged dd has had gives hugs to the children in the morning when they get to school and hugs on the way out the door in the evening. i wouldnt send my kids to a school where the teachers were nothing more than robots giving instruction. without relating to the kids how can they possibly hope to teach them

we are not real big on routine - but yes, my kids do tend to go outside to play when they get home from school - why wouldnt they. they have just spent 8 hours away from home at school, outside playing and getting fresh air is the best place for them and where they want to be - you know, riding bikes, kicking the soccer ball around, making leaf piles, etc.....

what is your point. my son is going to a daycare where he has to be potty trained and does everything you mentioned (except teh school/daycare provides lunch)- it is not a preschool, it is a daycare. how do i know, because he goes to preschool at the same place two mornings a week, any other time he goes there it is to the daycare and the rules and cirriculum are the same, only difference, one runs longer than the other - for his age group. when he goes there for k4 he will go 3 full days a week.

im a sahm and my kids spend at least half the summer off doing things, summer school, summer camp, field days, playing with friends, etc.... so that kind of blows that out of the water. i know alot of wohm who never use before or after school care. as to leaving work early to pick up a sick child, the parent is still with the child so that is kind of a moot point - no more time there. you do realize that most wohm's have vacation dont you? and i dont know but a handful of moms who dont have there kids in some kind of program well before traditional kindergarten starts. the one full time preschool here has a waiting list for kids to get into. i signed my son up when he was 1 to assure him a spot this year when he turned 3

once a sahm's kids are in school they do indeed have 30+ hours a week to themselves - they may choose to use them in certain ways but it is still a choice. with all three of mine in school this year i have at least 10 hours of time to myself each week and i love it. sometimes i use it to volunteer, sometimes i use it to clean, sometimes i use it to read a book or visit friends, but it is time where i have no one to account to or for and it is great. that time to yourself is a perk of being a sahm :)

My dcp has told my the same thing when I asked her the same question. So now it's 2 dcps response to the "dc is raising the wohms' children" question. Do I hear 3?
