absolutely..if we're going to find a paralel with school to dcp,we mise well include church, neighborhoods, libraries too..........thses places where behavior and policy are expected and enforced are *not* substitutes for mom and dad. a sitter on the other hand, well. at least for most of the day.
p.s. not meant to stir up how many hours in a day a parent has their child vs hours a dcp has the child,again..some of those hours may very well be at school as are some of those hours asleep. sahp is still with child longer than wohp.
what source do i need, when early childhood education is a commonly offered degree, distinct from upper el, lower el, middle and high school education, as well as a state certfication classification in all 50? heck, if your "babysitter" is getting an ece degree, why do you need me to post a source to show that it exists and what it is???
every one of the daycares we used advertised their program as both preschool and daycare. and your inexperience is showing here--daycare programs generally costs less, because the fixed costs can be spread across more hours of tuition collected. the costs of hiring staff, leasing an appropriate site, buying equipment, paying insurance and benefit costs, and the rest is lower per hour for a program that runs 10 hours a day year-round near capacity than for one that runs 1, 2, or 3 short sessions within the same period and has seasonal and unreliable enrollment levels. good quality and age-appropriate "preschool" apart from a daycare setting is more rare than good daycare, and much more expensive where it is offered.
<<>>
this isn't "either way"--this is age-appropriate. early childhood education doesn't "focus on learning to write, read, do math, etc." an ece curriculum has nothing to do with forcing children into inappropriate activities, and none of our daycares' curriculum did any such thing. we didn't get detailed weekly reports or anything else of the sort from any of them either. these are the kinds of trappings that "preschools" tend to offer to attract parents who want something other than a good environment for their children--particularly those who are bound and determined to use "preschool" but to find one that in no way resembles a daycare program, despite the fact that a good daycare program offers exactly what children need.
You're contradicting yourself just a bit. First you say DCP are raising children (which is wrong). Then you say "again" that DCP are PART of raising a child, just as nannies and teachers (whoops, looks like you backtracked a bit from that thing about teachers only teaching and not caring for children, hm?).
Thanks for the advice! Ill check out that website.
It's not litigation itself I am opposed to so much as the atmosphere and pace in a lot of law firms. The firm I worked for this summer was even fairly laid back as far as firms go, but it still wasn't really my cup of tea.
And thanks for the heads up on the EEOC and the Trademark Office.

i see we have to have a routine i have a large family and they all have different schedules plus i unschool two of the older boys from my second marriage and we are outside in town at the stables ect all day. We do not go out side to play < my public schooled one> until they have had a snack relaxed and started half of their homework they also like to stay inside if the weather is too hot< i live in a warm climate> i am a huge hands on mom and am outside with them most of the time playing in the pool, riding bikes, builing forts, riding horses, unschooling learning working ect...the only time they really play with friends for longer than a hour is on weekends or if they had a play date.
They have responsibilities around the house and on the ranch plus have music lessons, riding lessons, rodeo work 4-h church and sports amonst other things.

I dont think telling someone they are deliberatly lying after they have clarifyed they were wrong and stood corrected adds anything to conversation. Im new here and the board moves fast and get's confusing perhaps giving other mothers the benifit of the doubt is the better choice than calling me a deliberate liar. And actually what started the whole conversation was not your post in was another post someone made in another thread the first post i made on this board...ill find the link when i find the time or feel the need i already pointed that out anyway directly to that post.
Imo from what i have read if you agree or not is posters wondering what the difference is betweeen a young child in day care and a chool aged child in school imo their is a huge difference. I have also gotten the impression from a few posters that they view teachers as dcp and fact is many ppl actually do irl and that is way things are so messed up in our school's. Because parents rely on others to do their job for them.
