Is the SAHM the new status symbol?

In the 70's and 80's women fought to get into the workforce (the whole Ms. magazine generation)...and then the tide turned in the late 1990's when more women started to stay home by choice. Now, it seems like being a SAHM is a status symbol....and superior to being a working mom.

If she ever becomes a teacher, with her attitude, I will forbid my child to go anywhere near her classroom!

We are having pizza & breadsticks all curled up in bed with pie for dessert and watching movies. Dh and I were laughing as we rushed to take our showers (my 3rd of the day since I worked in the garden midday and his 2nd) and then to think of the conversation here about eating in bed and here we are waiting on the pizza to arrive w/the bed covers turned down lol This is something we do when the kids go to granny's for the night. Much better than going out if you ask me. Gosh, and we had the lawn sprayed with the fall fertilizer today. Dh came in & winked "those girls on that board won't like that if they don't like the shower and linen thing" lol

OMG, when I saw your post asking about dinner I was like what the h*//!?!

It's my dh's family. Not mine. But I don't care how they feel, it is ok with me. Btw, don't worry I'd never go into teaching, I decided that after I got the degree. It was just something to do.

What? My attitude that everyone should live their lives as desired? OK, if you think that is a bad thing. I'll never ever understand!

Wow. You really have issues with people who don't fit in your criteria's little box, who lives unlike you, don't you?

I've only read 1/2 of these threads, I don't think I can take anymore!

ROFLOL! My dh and I eat in bed sometimes. Usually on the weekend when we make all the kids go take a nap or at least stay in their rooms for a little while. Last weekend it was leftover pizza and shishkabobs. (did I spell that right?) He made a sarcastic comment the other day when he asked me what I did with my whole "noncontributory" day. Then, he asked me if I was still arguing with "that lady".
