Is the SAHM the new status symbol?

In the 70's and 80's women fought to get into the workforce (the whole Ms. magazine generation)...and then the tide turned in the late 1990's when more women started to stay home by choice. Now, it seems like being a SAHM is a status symbol....and superior to being a working mom.

Im happy for you that was a wise choice on your part...you dont need verification i can take what you say at face value and accept it. I have no real reason not to perhaps you can respect back the same.

Next you'll hear that her poor beleaguered dh has "no choice, he HAS to" implement the policy because he's just an independently wealthy cog in the corporate machine, powerless to resist. (except for being independently wealthy and in no need of income to survive), but other than that he's HELPLESS, I tell you, HELPLESS!!!

Come on p&j, don't be so hard on her, she has to go along with the family philosophies, after all, it's the family who is footing the bill for her life of leisure. You wouldn't want to bite the hand that feeds you (and cleans your house, and watches your kids, and takes care of your lawn, and writes your checks).

Ummm, the whole point of this debate is whether we respect SAHM's who live a life of leisure or WOHM who work if they don't have to. Remember?

Just to remain on topic, I'll reiterate that I have no respect for self indulgent types who are non productive, non contributing members of society, even if it doesn't bother them or their families.

Frankly, I'm not even expecting to hear a valid answer to my question. Because there is no such answer! :)

But I do like your theory. . .

Yes, you're right. But I can't figure out if it's M&T or GAH, or if they're the same one. I'll bet they're one and the same. LOL!!!!

I just think it's an *amazing* coinkidink that M&T and G&H show up and leave at the same time and share the *exact* same viewpoints on things.

Considering that you eat 2 out of 3 meals in bed I'm not surprised that the sheets have to be changed daily.

I don't get the attraction. BTW, I'm making asparagus risotto since both boys are at friend's houses for dinner. Well have it with a nice varietal and light a fire. It's waaayyyy to cold for the beginning of October!
