Is the SAHM the new status symbol?

In the 70's and 80's women fought to get into the workforce (the whole Ms. magazine generation)...and then the tide turned in the late 1990's when more women started to stay home by choice. Now, it seems like being a SAHM is a status symbol....and superior to being a working mom.

Yum! I think we're doing "Make Your Own Boboli Night." :)

Is it really chilly over there? I'm still wearing sandals here in the NW!

Technically it's more innuendo than sarcasm, but I do understand your confusion.

Brrrr, it's already in the 40's. Too cold for October.

We always do make your own boboli, the kids love it (of course theirs is easy - boboli and mozzarella, that's all they want). It's so nice to have kids old enough to have their own dinner plans, they hate risotto, so we'll enjoy without yhe ubiquitous whining.

I answered you. I have never cared enough to really wonder why the family thinks this way. What more do you want me to say?

No, you didn't answer me.

Why does your DH's hotel have the policy regarding towels? In other words, why did you give a "thumbs up" for the hotel being "environmentally friendly" and implementing such a policy, yet you cannot and do not do the same in your own home?

Yikes - 40s is definitely too cold for this time of year. I haven't had to pull out my fall clothes yet . . . but I'm off to Ann Taylor & Banana for some much needed shopping in a few minutes. :)

Have a good weekend!

The hotel has always had that policy. The reason I always heard is because it is more time efficient for the housekeeping staff to not have to change linens daily unless the room is occupied only for one night or guest request change of linens. Also helped reduce the volume of flow thru the laundry staff.

Why should I do the same? Time efficiency isn't a factor in our house.

My thumbs up was agreeing hotels don't change linens daily (unless otherwise as I stated above)

The hotels that I've been at with that policy tell the guests that their reason is to conserve water. Does your dh think that the reason is what you said? I ask because he is currently managing the hotel and not you. (we know from other threads that people can be misinformed if not doing the day to day management as in silverunity and her restaurant)
