Is the SAHM the new status symbol?

In the 70's and 80's women fought to get into the workforce (the whole Ms. magazine generation)...and then the tide turned in the late 1990's when more women started to stay home by choice. Now, it seems like being a SAHM is a status symbol....and superior to being a working mom.

$ yrs ago we told the guests, if asked, the reason I said. Don't know about today. Not something dh & I have discussed & he will be at work until 10 tonigh, so can;t ask right now. I always request daily service when we travel. I dont remember asking for or being given any particular rerason, not addressed. I request, they oblige. As we did when I managed as dh does.

Your tax burden for the year 2003 would be no different if everyone reported 100% of their income in 2003. Eventually, it may change the tax laws, but thinking that everyone will report all their income is a pipe dream. I wasn't saying my dh doesn't report all his income, I was saying he pays tips in cash also.

Very chilly tonight in NJ. In the 40s. Can't even sit on the porch like I was hoping.

Then I guess you're on the wrong board. This is supposed to be the SAH/WOH debate board, not the "how many times do you bathe per day and change your sheets" board. Please explain to me how *any* of your posts pertain to the topic at hand. Oh, I'll bet this will be a doozey. Wait, let me get my Tangqueray Martini ready so I can sit back and enjoy the show.

when you said you were going to sit on the porch, i was thinking maybe the cold front missed you, because we have the fireplace going, and dh is actually wearing jeans and a long sleeve heavy shirt. i was thinking to myself, have at it, im freezing 600 miles south of you.

Yup. You are supposed to claim all of your tips but few did in the restaurants I worked at. As long as you claim something reasonable, Uncle Sam leaves you alone but you can get audited.
