Is the SAHM the new status symbol?

In the 70's and 80's women fought to get into the workforce (the whole Ms. magazine generation)...and then the tide turned in the late 1990's when more women started to stay home by choice. Now, it seems like being a SAHM is a status symbol....and superior to being a working mom.

Actually, my mother made about 20% of what my father did.

What I make is nearly neglible compared to my dh's income. However, WOH FT would not change that.

Good thing you don't actually have to clean your house, work a paid job or live without a nanny then, right?

Holy sh#@! You do have a "staff."

So what do *you* do?

Well, we do take quite a few showers (or baths, whichever). With the sand, pool, and saltwater I just feel the need personally. But I also recycle everything I can that comes through the house. So I do help in the conservation line.

You know. I'd be fine to clean my own house. I just choose not to do it myself. I'd also be fine to work. I just choose not to do it. I've done both. And I have a nanny I'm sure less hours on a weekly average than you do.

When I was reading the part about the "lawn tech" (is that like a gardner but with a degree?) coming 3 days/week, my mouth was open, but then I almost fell out of my chair when I got to the part about the "cook" making dinner 3+ times/week.

I tell ya--life is so hard for some people...

But I work while my nanny is with my kids!!!!!

Seriously, is there any lifestyle that you would consider shallow and vapid?

It is. I have a sweetie! He just took me away for a few days that he planned & had my mother to watch the kids. Surprised me. I thought I was just accompanying him on a business trip .
