Is the SAHM the new status symbol?

In the 70's and 80's women fought to get into the workforce (the whole Ms. magazine generation)...and then the tide turned in the late 1990's when more women started to stay home by choice. Now, it seems like being a SAHM is a status symbol....and superior to being a working mom.

I don't think that is excessive. If it is, we are excessive here in Bama country then. I take a shower first thing in the morning while the coffee is perking. I take a shower after the kids are tucked in bed while dh is getting our snack together (he has already had his second shower of the day).

The kids. Well at 2 and 3, they just need 2 baths a day. Especially days like today when they helped mommy in the yardwork.

No, we as a couple, married to one another, don't see it in that light.

We both agree, we do for another purely because we want to and because mainly, we love each other dearly.

He has given me the opportunity to stay home. I give him things like the hot lunch, see to the overall running of the house, & the occasional time when it snows and all the cashiers can't get into work, I go help him out. Or when he needs anything else done at the store, mom keeps the kids, I go. etc. After all, that is our livlihood. It is a win-win situation for us both. He has given me a housekeeper 2x a week.

Yes, I see that. But I'd rather hire my own housekeeper thank you very much.

SOrry. I just can't see any life a waste as long as the people in it are enjoying it and living as they hoped their lives could be.

But dogs enjoy their lives too. Aren't human beings designed and created for a higher purpose than just enjoyment?

Huh? I did hire my own housekeeper. What do you mean?

Well, *I* just feel the personally to do what I can to help the environment. Including conserving water and energy, recycling and commuting with my DH to work. Oh well, different strokes.

I think 3x daily is excessive and wasteful (unless you're digging ditches or rolling in fish all day).

Maybe you could not be so rude?

You said your DH gave you a housekeeper 2X a week. I presume, as in "pay for."

My boys only get baths every other day. I can see why they think they can't possibly fit in a job if they are giving 4 baths a day to kids (and taking multiple baths themselves)!
