Is the SAHM the new status symbol?

In the 70's and 80's women fought to get into the workforce (the whole Ms. magazine generation)...and then the tide turned in the late 1990's when more women started to stay home by choice. Now, it seems like being a SAHM is a status symbol....and superior to being a working mom.

I don't really have an *issue,* but this is a public forum. It's kind of like when I watch "E! True Hollywood Stoy" I am surprised at how people live (and sometime will fall out of my chair because I am so surprised). These people's lives don't *bother* me, but it still surprises me. That was just my reaction to your post.

My husband finds only joy in his work. He loves it, simply loves it!

I would imagine that before and after care for elementary school would require toilet training and all the other things you listed, yet it is still considered childcare.

I think lucaslawmom is talking about our earth and its limited resouces.

If you knew that tuna was becoming endangered, then you wouldn't eat it every night. Would you?

Wow -- I don't think I know anyone who "finds only joy in his work." What does he do?

I think you're misinterpreting what we mean by having respect for people. It's not like we're going around spitting on those we don't have respect for. I'm very polite and friendly to all those self absorbed, non contributing members of society. They have no idea that I don't respect them.

You are a SAHM with one 5 year old son and a nanny? Don't you get in eachothers way when you're making his breakfast?

LOL! Don't forget about managing the staff. Baths and staff make for a full day.
