Is the SAHM the new status symbol?
| Tue, 09-23-2003 - 10:36pm |
In the 70's and 80's women fought to get into the workforce (the whole Ms. magazine generation)...and then the tide turned in the late 1990's when more women started to stay home by choice. Now, it seems like being a SAHM is a status symbol....and superior to being a working mom.

The OP made it sound like a husband of a sahw/m has to go off for the "drudgery of work". My dh really loves his work. He'd be doing the same thing had I continued to work.
See, I think this is why I truly could never be a lifer SAH. I could never bring myself to wake up and scramble those eggs and pack my husband a lunch. I guess the fact that he goes out to lunch is beside the point, but I think if it came down to that, I'd have to just buy a minivan, fabric softener, some stretch pants and call it a day.
People can live whatever life they want. And why should they care what I think anyway? But it doesn't make me any less suprised to see people live that way. (did you read my "E! True Hollywood Story" post?)
