Is the SAHM the new status symbol?

In the 70's and 80's women fought to get into the workforce (the whole Ms. magazine generation)...and then the tide turned in the late 1990's when more women started to stay home by choice. Now, it seems like being a SAHM is a status symbol....and superior to being a working mom.

Yes, *some* of these posts are taking on a "Entertainment Tonight" like tone.

As far as the shower thing for me & my family. They are a necessary thing. I just don't feel clean, don't feel relaxed to go to bed at night. I just don't feel ready to start my day. And after I dig in the garden I need an extra one. Because I'm not cooking dinner or running to the store grungy.

I don't see the sheet and towel daily thing. But whatever. S.V.

No, you've misread or confused something. I do not have a nanny, or any hired help other than a snowplow guy (upstate NY snow belt). The nanny I refer to in my posts is PJM's vaunted English one, who in PJM's eyes makes a contribution to society, whereas I, who take care of my own child, am apparently a useless societal vampire unless you count my volunteer work - oh, which PJM does too, and probably better!

If you're going to make snotty, cutting remarks, you at least ought to get your facts straight.

No. We live in a house. Not a hotel.

As for the pets statement. I absolutely do not like animals of any sort and won't allow pets. My final answer on that one. No real reason, other than I just don't like them.

Think as you want. It won't change anything that is fact.
