Is the SAHM the new status symbol?

In the 70's and 80's women fought to get into the workforce (the whole Ms. magazine generation)...and then the tide turned in the late 1990's when more women started to stay home by choice. Now, it seems like being a SAHM is a status symbol....and superior to being a working mom.

None of us has the slightest idea what human beings were designed and created for.

My favorite snarky quote on this idea (by who???I don't know) is, "We were put on earth to help others. I have no idea what others were put here for."

Changing sheets and towels daily is routine when you live at a hotel. Get it?

It wasn't hard to tell who you referring to judging by the ongoing Max saga in the archives & your history (not you alone, but included). Max's name was also mentioned by another poster flat out. Any time there is a resemblence of lifestyle Maxchandler's name always arises at some point eventually. Doesn't take a scholar to figure out it was bound to happen in the next day or two. Just happened sooner than I was betting.

It depends entirely on what their pleasure is. If what maximizes their pleasure is torturing other people, then that is immoral. If their greatest pleasure is painting or gardening or playing the guitar (or a million other harmless activities) then I don't see a problem.

Mea Culpa. I could've sworn you said something about her nanny vs. yours. My bad, sorry.

My husband comes from "old" money. He does make a great salary. But he was raised in this same manner. I don't come from the wealthy background he does but my family is far from poor themselves.

None of our staff has anything to do with the hotel. I can't utilize services unless we lived on site and I'm not interested in living or raising a family in a hotel full of tourists in Florida.

You're not fooling anyone. Well, maybe you are, but you aren't fooling ME. If your husband is even the GM, he can't afford all that help. It's gratis of the hotel and we both know it.

Unless of course you're an heiress. That must be it. My apologies your highness.

So the woman who spent the day calling 100 of the 50 million people who don't want to hear from a telemarketer has a higher purpose than the woman who spent the day pruning her roses?
