Is the SAHM the new status symbol?

In the 70's and 80's women fought to get into the workforce (the whole Ms. magazine generation)...and then the tide turned in the late 1990's when more women started to stay home by choice. Now, it seems like being a SAHM is a status symbol....and superior to being a working mom.

He was the crazy uncle, right? I walk in Southport about 3 times a week. It's my absolute favorite town around here. I go there right before I head to Stop & Shop. I love, love, LOVE it. Did he at least keep a few homes there?

It's not that *I* can't deal with it, it's that our environment can't. This point has conveniently been ignored by both you and M&T.

I'm done with this discussion until you can give me a good reason why wasting water isn't harmful to the environment.

LOL~ Are you talking to me? rotflol! Nothing like assuming here. Iam not from old family money if that is what your trying to imply by your dribble.

Just to correct your assumptions what i said and fully believe is people who talk about how much money that make, have spend dont really have it...big difference. Making so called money and old family money is not even remotley the same.

No. I didn't post that. I used my first degree in business, that is how I met my dh. I have never used the second degree I earned in elementary education. I'm up to today's speed in hotel management because of my husband. I live through him as far as work because I really enjoyed my job. So, naturally, we share everything and he tells me all about it, I go to conventions with him, etc. I could support myself. I haven't been out of the work force for that long. I WOH during the first part of motherhood (didn't like it, so decided I'd quit).

And don't forget about the phantom poster's dh's. They always come on, under their dw's screen name to defend their spouses.

I think we should move on from the topic of how many showers a day my family & I take and the issue we have clean linens daily. I've answered you all I will answer you. It is pointless to keep responding to your posts on this topic of discussion. End of story.

That's interesting! How long did you work once you had your first child? Did you use a nanny? How many hours a week did you work? What didn't you like about it?

Agreed - let's move on. You can't answer my environment question so there's no use continuing.

Okay do i seem upset??? Iam not, Iam freaked out by the way some of the women here get treated and about this phatom poster what the hell does that mean and who is she???...I quess it comes from the expereince I went thru when I first joined the board. Why cant people just belive what someone say's and let it go.Who cares really??? Am I missing something here that i really need to know??? i think I need to get off this freaking board...lol~:-)

I do know people from family money who do go to work for others in the service indusrty. Our sous chef for example....they are worth millions he works for us.

~Tell me, do your aunt and uncle have such a staff for themselves personally? How about the cousin who owns Hardee's? Bet they don't.~

they all have housekeepers, landscapers, accountants and one has a cook and my cousin had a nanny b/c she had 6 kids (they are all college and beyond now) She cares for her broke elderly parents in their home and have a home health aid...is that staff???

Shoot we are joe and jane average and I have a accountant and a few other things to help us keep our lives in ordeIam getting sucked into something very evil here???/ HELP!
