For all the stay at home moms, yes I'm one of them. I have one question, do you plan on going back to work once all of your children are in Elementary school? Or do you like staying at home and have decided to never work again? I am just curious, my husband and I have talked about it. I am mainly home just for my kids, to be here when they come home from school is nice, but, I tend to get bored easly, so I have decided once my 3 year old enters into Elementary school, I will be going back to work. I have thought and thought about this, my husband is fine if I decide not to work or if I decide to go back and work. We are financially stable so I can choose to stay home if I want. I would be working so i won't be bored, while the kids are at school all day long. I do plan on working part time, so i can be home when they get home from school. I'm not the type to sit around and do nothing all day, right now my kids are home half the day at least my 5 year old is, so I have her, and my youngest to be home for. I just can't envision myself sitting here all day long with no children around, going gee what do i do now, ain't gonna happen.
I'm done rambling, waiting for replies!!!!

I know I take liberties here, PnJ, but my experience with Calabrians :) is that they are
1) unusually insensitive
2) manipulation doesn't work on them
I've watched my Mom beat her head against a wall with her DH till she finally pulled out the biggest MC, divorce, in which he would most definitely lose since he has no legal rights to the house (actually, she deeded it over to us kids, he never knew it).
It worked. Not only that, he has shown genuine regret over the pain he has caused her these years. They are actually, after 22 years, on their way to healing. Weird but true.
Don't wait till you're 75 to have it out with him.

If you really felt that way, why did you quit?
WRT my situation, I'm confused.?? Neither of us scaled back. I am still 70% (60%? I don't know he's hourly I'm salary!) of our income, more if you include my 401K and insurance coverage. Did I give that impression?

>>Why do more women take nursing and paralegal jobs than Dr. and lawyer jobs? Why are there more women than men in teaching, and less women in <<
you are right, ita. i think it is natural for women to take lesser roles/jobs than men. with all due respect to the lawyers on this board,i think women doctors and women attorneys are hailed as women libber types too.
there is not one male teacher at my dds' elementary school. there are more men teachers in the junior high and high school level, but none whatsoever at the elementary school. news alert there though is that our principal is retiring at the end of this year.....and i don't know how thrilled we would be if she is replaced with a man.

That is not entirely true.
My dh often works long hours. But because long hours are a part of his job, he has chosen to redistribute those hours in order spend time with kids. While on a trip, he'll work from 6:30am until 11pm, since he is away from the kids anyway. Or because the kids go to bed at 8:30 (ish), he'll put in another few hours of work at home after they go to sleep. If the kids are at a friend's house or a birthday party on a weekend, he'll work those hours as well.

Have you ever walked into a NYC public school? I was burned out....
Sorry, I was confusing you with another poster. I'll get everyone eventually, lol.

LOL. You want to know something funny, I've known of TWO retired execs who taught in public school system (HISD) as vollunteers.
They both quit within 6 months.
Apparently, working with children is much more trying than working with adults (especially adults who are subordinates..).
