SAHM's and Money

I am a WOHM but have always felt like this, even as a kid. I know it is probably wrong, but it is a strong feeling I have had.
When SAHM's say "I bought this or "I saved MY money for this", I always want to say "YOUR" money? Now, don't get me wrong, my mom was a SAHM and a great one at that but she would get spending money every week, just like I do, while working, but I can't feel technically that it was "HER" money.
Staying home is a hard job, being home today I can say that it is much harder to have a stressful out of the house job AND have kids but it is more physically demanding then my job.
I just feel that any money in the household has been made by the dh and is really "HIS" all the time. He just gives it to his wife to spend. I know this is horrible but I was wondering if anyone else felt this way?

Honestly? I would. Not that I'll ever have a chance to prove it, of course...but I would.

Where did you get this fact?

I know plenty of happily married couples (both with sahm and wohms) and money is not an issue. Most of my friends who are divorced are divorced b/c their dh's cheated on them.

Don't you just love the generalizations?

Sounds like you're mad at him for something he hasn't even done yet.

If someone thought so little of what I did, I'd probably try to make it sound more important, too. Just sayin'.

How is the sah spouse participating in the *earning* of the money?

No, you misunderstand. I'm not controlling, I'm un-cluttering. Trust me, after 18 years of living together, and 16 years of marriage, I KNOW what I can and can't throw away. I'd be in deep sh*t if I threw away my dh's autographed photo of Thurman Munson, or his prized bootleg Grateful Dead CD collection. But the Van Halen World Tour '78 T shirt has seen better days.

My son was like that. He got up between 5:15 & 5:30 every single day. I tried putting him to bed later to see if he'd sleep later. The only difference it made was that he woke up between 5:15 & 5:30 REALLY CRANKY.

A magical thing happened one day that changed that for him and made him want to stay asleep all morning long. That magical thing was called school. ;-)

How do you know money isn't an issue with your friends and their dhs? It's not like people advertise thier money problems.

LOL! Ok as long as you're not throwing out things he really likes or forcing him to throw things out. I've figured out a way for dh not to wear a shirt I don't like... I wear it as PJs sometimes. That way it's either on me, under my pillow, or in the laundry. haha. Then for some reason it stays at the bottom of the laundry hamper and never seems to get washed.... haha.
