SAHM's and Money

I am a WOHM but have always felt like this, even as a kid. I know it is probably wrong, but it is a strong feeling I have had.
When SAHM's say "I bought this or "I saved MY money for this", I always want to say "YOUR" money? Now, don't get me wrong, my mom was a SAHM and a great one at that but she would get spending money every week, just like I do, while working, but I can't feel technically that it was "HER" money.
Staying home is a hard job, being home today I can say that it is much harder to have a stressful out of the house job AND have kids but it is more physically demanding then my job.
I just feel that any money in the household has been made by the dh and is really "HIS" all the time. He just gives it to his wife to spend. I know this is horrible but I was wondering if anyone else felt this way?

My children are 8, 7, and 1. My oldest and middle are capable of getting in and out of the car too, but it is still a PITA to deal with them AND the groceries if it is raining. I just personally don't like it. So, unless it is necessary and we are starving, I will go to the store when DH is home or he will go on his way home from work. No biggie.

When I take my kids shopping, and if it is raining or snowing, I get them both in the car first (my dd can get herself in) and the put the groceries in the truck. Yes, I might get wet, but who cares, I can go home and dry my hair and change clothes if I have to. I like to go on a certain day and by that day, we are down to the nitty-gritty of food-lol! Nothing usually stops me.

That is great. That works for you and you have no problem with it. However I personally don't care nor like to do it. So my question is. Why does it fascinate you so much that I don't like to go to the grocery store in the rain? It really isn't that big of a deal. I don't feel the need to question you on your decision to go in the rain. I am genuinely curious as to why this is such a big deal?

Both of my children can unbuckle their seatbelts but both of my rear doors have the child lock son them. I have to open both doors from the outside of my SUV in order for them to get out. I also have to help my youngest get in her carseat belt properly.

It's not a big deal to me at all. That's why I do it.

I have child locks too. When I get out of my car, I have to unlock the back. My dd gets out by herself, I go around and get my son. I think most cars are like this now.

Well then you just answered the whole debate. It isn't a big deal for me NOT to go. That is why I don't.

Then you just have a different method of shopping. I don't like to let myself get down to the nitty gritty of food because I like the flexibilty of being able to shop when it is convenient rather than when I have to. Didn't work for me this week, the last slice of bread and last bit of the milk were both used up Friday night so I had to go shopping first thing Saturday morning.

Half of the money in your joint account wasn't earned by you, either, but I'm guessing you consider the whole balance as belonging to your husband and you and that you don't mentally divide the balance in half and count that as "yours" every time you're banking.

Or maybe you do. However, the law disagrees with you. As my name is on everything, legally half of it is mine, regardless of how much money, if any, I contributed. So your opinion isn't really worth a hill of beans to me b/c the law says it's all OURS and half is mine.
