SAH/WOH--extramarital affairs

I was just at the gym this morning and overheard a conversation between two women on treadmills who were discussing/debating as to whether married sahms were any more or less likely to have affairs than married wohms.

I thought it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on this.

Ah, so you think your children have some sort of character flaw?

Or do you think that at the ages of 5 and 7, they simply haven't yet internalized the lesson?

If I was mistaken about TM's use of children in her posts or not, I apologize.

my point is that *your* assertion that children *lie* because they know no better is wrong. my 7 and 5 Y O did know better but chose to try it anyway. fire away, debate that one.

Yeah, they probably do. I can tell you, as a SAHM, there have been times in my marriage that I wasn't getting what I needed from my DH, in several different areas. I know myself, and I thank God that my particular lifestyle as a SAHM did not present me with the opportunity to cheat. Without someone to turn to, it forced me to do what I should have done, and look INSIDE the marriage to fix the problems, not outside. But had I been in contact with men, the situation could have turned out differently, b/c I was vulnerable to the idea of stepping out to fulfill emotional/sexual needs. Staying home probably saved my marriage. I'm sure there are SAHMs who seek out the men, and begin the affair. But with 2 small children who are always with me, there just would not have been an "unsupervised" opportunity. Five-year olds ask A LOT of questions, and tell EVERYTHING they know ;) !

Whatever. I felt this way before he did that. Who was I getting over then?

Exactly!

Anyone who has an affair does have a character flaw. It doesn't mean they are an overall bad person (which I have explained in several posts in this thread), but it does indicate a character flaw (it does not indicate that others don't have similar or worse character flaws).

And adultery IS immoral.

And adultery IS selfish.

Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.  Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.

<<You're the only one trying to claim we're saying that's ALL they are.>>

Exactly. I've stated that over and over in this thread, although not as clearly as you just put it.

Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.  Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.

But I think it also has to do with each persons personal sexual drive (need?) level.

But here is the thing...how LONG are we talking about a spouse being incapacitated?
