SAH/WOH - Why?

I am sure this has been done before but I was wondering this in light of recent posts lately.

Why did you decide to sah/woh?

Was it a choice or something expected of you?

Was your plan to sah/woh though out or impulsive? Long-term or short-term?

No they arent the same size. I hold only 2.5 more gallons that she does and I am getting a lot more than mileage than she is. More than what 2.5 gallons should be giving me.

***Do you drive exactly the same amount of highway and city miles. etc etc etc etc***

I have no idea. But that would debunk your site about emissions. Did you read the fine print there?

Annual Fuel Costs and Greenhouse Gas Estimates are based on 45% highway driving, 55% city driving, and 15000 annual miles.

Living where I live...I drive a lot of hwy miles. A lot more than someone living in a metropolitian area. People in high congested areas like NY or Atlanta have horrible emission problems in their environment.

How do you fit 4-5 kids and a driver into a sedan?

She only has 2 kids. She can carpool 2 children other than her own.

And that is precisely why I drive a huge van.

"I think letting them sleep over sends the wrong message."

Well, as adults, we certainly can appreciate what such a message might be. But from the kids' POV they may very well still be in the dark. I can see wehre 9 would be a tough age to make that call.

The 6 year olds at our house were fine. Each child invited two close friends, and girls and boys had separate sleeping areas. Needless to say, boys and girls together are not an issue here - mine still bathe together - but I did make sure that each of the parents were okay with it. All of them were.

So, her 2 plus 2 more would be four. Or did you mean, only others' kids and not her own? If so, then that almost defeats the benefit of carpooling.

No I meant HER, and HER 2 children and 2 more children. That is carpooling.
