SAH/WOH - Why?

I am sure this has been done before but I was wondering this in light of recent posts lately.

Why did you decide to sah/woh?

Was it a choice or something expected of you?

Was your plan to sah/woh though out or impulsive? Long-term or short-term?

Well if you want to call my children *privledge* by all means go for it. However I don't think giving a teen a car that they have to work in order to maintain that car privledge.

Yes, children who have a car at 16 are priviledged, even if they pay for its insurance and upkeep.

***Actually you did ask for proof on the law of supply and demand in regards to buying cars in this very thread. Although it's not the first time you have been confused over what you have said or not said, you might want to do a little re-reading?***

Again you are confusing yourself. I asked her to show data that would prove not buying teens cars would reduce supply and demand. She didn't.

***Then again, the link that you are claiming "debunked" the myth, was on the website of the suv owners of America, lol.***

Well if you can prove them wrong by all means go for it.

***Where shall I put the dog? The backpacks, the folding chairs for sporting events, sports bags, science projects for two kids, cub scout equipment, car pool kids? Oh and if you check the emission score for the civic, it's only slightly lower than the minivan.***

You carpool your dogs? All the other stuff will nicely fit in the trunk. It might be slightly lower but the fuel saving is much less. You still drive a car that is too large for your family size. Although I don't blame you. I do too. IT is much more convinent.

***When they make a large enough car in a hybrid, I will be looking at them, in the mean time, I try and do what ever little I can.***

They do. A Honda Accord is a Hybrid. However if you check Consumer Reports Hybrids really aren't all they are cracked up to be.

***Why are you stating such extremes? ***

I am not going to extremes. I am pointing out that if one wants to point fingers at others for what they drive then they should really look at themselves.

***No, we looked at the Accord and it wasn't big enough for our main family vehicle that travels and with all of the kids stuff.***

Funny you say that stuff and it is fine. I say it and I have a typical SUV owner attitude. (You didn't say that BTW)

I didn't say I let my 6 yr old do it. I said he has been sitting in the seat and the light comes on. He sits in the back in his booster seat. There is no need for him to sit in the front. I have a large SUV so that he can sit in the rear.

Where do you put 5 boys in your van. Someone here said that the lapbelt isn't safe. Isn't there only a lapbelt in the middle of your third row?

Is there a law where you live that a 10 yr old can't sit in the front?

So you wouldn't put your 6-yr-old in the front seat, but you think she should put her 9-yr-old in the front seat?

Do some reading. The front seat is not safe for kids.

Sure it is, and if they really don't see that they're privileged for having parents who give them brand-new cards at 16, they could very well become entitled teens.
