SAH/WOH - Why?

I am sure this has been done before but I was wondering this in light of recent posts lately.

Why did you decide to sah/woh?

Was it a choice or something expected of you?

Was your plan to sah/woh though out or impulsive? Long-term or short-term?

She doesn't have a 12mpg gas guzzling SUV, she has a Toyota Highlander. I don't know what year she has, but 2003 shows mpg as 22/27. I have a 12mpg gas guzzler. :)

There is a big difference. You can't just consider the amount of cylinders.. you have to consider the displacement (how many liters), the torque, the transmission.

Maybe not. A van has tons of cargo room when you put the seats down, but now it seems the real issue is that she has a boat.

That's still no excuse for not thinking about it.

That is right. My point was that my minivan has the capabaility (lugging) of any SUV. And it does. The towing capability it doesn't have, but the van is just a V-6. The bigger SUV's are V-8. My BIL has a Ford Explorer that he bought to tow a 26ft motorboat; he upgraded the engine with it.

No, it is a Sequoia. The Highlander is smaller and does get better gas mileage than a Sequoia.

LOL.... so funny. She lists 3 things she has to tow, including a boat, and you only mention the boat.

What kind of van do you have? My van is awesome for lugging. Honda boasts that you can put a refrigerator in it if you put the back seat into a well and remove the Captain's chairs.

I believe she said she has two trailers. I don't see why she couldn't put the seats down and put the stuff in the trailer in the van. A van has lots of cargo area. I doubt she could fit a boat into the back of a van.

She never mentioned the boat in any posts to me, interestingly enough. She said she needs the suv when she works because she has to haul cargo.
