SAH/WOH - Why?

I am sure this has been done before but I was wondering this in light of recent posts lately.

Why did you decide to sah/woh?

Was it a choice or something expected of you?

Was your plan to sah/woh though out or impulsive? Long-term or short-term?

Oh, no, I didn't say he couldn't do it. I said I wasn't surprised that he did it.

No, she said she bought a new suv the year before she had kids. That's what she'd been driving up until last year.

***Or maybe if you hadn't bought your previous suv in the first place, the year before you had kids, you could have just bought a new suv when you go back to work in a couple of years. That way, all this time you wouldn't have been driving a bigger car than you need.***

That is wrong. I have already answered this question since you already asked it.

***Because maybe it would have been better for the environment?***

Why? A large SUV that is used is better than a new SUV? I am not following? Did you forget that I have things I tow? Trailer, boat? Remember?

***You made the choice to live in the country, so you have to realize you're going to be doing more driving than those who make the choice to live closer to their everyday activities. All the more reason to think about your choice of car.***

No that isnt true. There are lots of places to go here. However walking where I live isn't an option. We live very close to shopping, etc. But we live on a country road. Do you think every single person on the planet could live close to things they do? BTW When I return to working the neighborhood I am looking to start building in is about .5 miles away. So in reality I will be working closer than you do. I still couldn't walk there.

***No, I don't. That's why I said "or just do something else to help the environment."***

I believe I have already covered that. I wonder how many times it is now that you have said that I don't care about the environment. Maybe later I will go count them. You really contridict yourself a lot.

We have our own compost for the garden. The rest of the mulch I just pick up in my van. It holds a lot. You must have a huge yard.

We've hired people to do some of the work on our house. We've done other stuff ourselves.

You've told me numerous times that you didn't consider the environment in buying your cars. It's a bit late to insist you care.

It is getting old hearing you tell me why you couldn't possibly have done *anything* differently than you did, but just for fun, why couldn't you have bought the highlander or another smaller suv that would emit less pollution and get better mileage? I notice you have nothing to say there.

Again, I am not the least bit surprised that he wouldn't care.
