SAH/WOH - Why?

I am sure this has been done before but I was wondering this in light of recent posts lately.

Why did you decide to sah/woh?

Was it a choice or something expected of you?

Was your plan to sah/woh though out or impulsive? Long-term or short-term?

So you've removed everything once in 9 years? That doesn't sound like a reason for needing an suv for 7 years.

And assuming you were living in your house while you were renovating it, you certainly weren't taking every fixture out at the same time.

You keep assuming that noone has to move large items consistantly because you don't.

So where did you live while it was being renovated? And why would doing that once in 7 years be a reason to need an suv?

Finally we agree on something. I expect your kids will follow suit, too.

We lived in our house. We bought this one to renovate and then live in. We did that once. Just like we did the entire house over...each thing once. The things she listed were one of the many things we did to this house. You should know...you live in an old house. Windows, floors, paint, fixtures, appliances, lighting.

***You said since you have been a sahm you put less than 10k a year on your car, didn't you?***

No I didn't.

***What types of trucks (we are really talking about suv's correct?) start to wear and the transmission slips?***

The last SUV I owned I owned it when I worked and then kept that SUV when I quit.

***But basically the only thing wrong with the car was that it needed to be traded in because you think something could happen to it?***

No because it had a lot of mileage on it. It was time to trade due to mileage.

No, I'm asking her why she would ever need to move every fridge, toilet, sink, etc. out of her house at the same time, and even if she really did that *one* time, why she would need to own an suv for that.

I know plenty about remodeling an old home because I've lived in one for 13 hears. We've moved plenty of stuff, but like most people who are actually living in the houses they're renovating, we've never taken out every appliance and fixture in our house at once.

I see. So you didn't live in while you were renovating it. You owned two houses.

So you did that once in 9 years. Doesn't sound like a reason to drive an suv for 7 years.
