SAH/WOH - Why?

I am sure this has been done before but I was wondering this in light of recent posts lately.

Why did you decide to sah/woh?

Was it a choice or something expected of you?

Was your plan to sah/woh though out or impulsive? Long-term or short-term?

You gave one website and upon further review and website that I posted, they are the same in safety in one area.

Good luck with that. I just searched 3 different retail sites and only one (tiny 2 person one) had a GVW of less than 4000 lbs. Tent trailer would work.

That's one test and one measure of safety.

Where are the reliability links?

Perhaps they are just lucky, or are towing trailers that don't weigh much. Towing a trailer that weighs more than the weight recommendation on your vehicle is just plain stupid.

I agree, but how often is the suburban towing the maximum amount that it can carry?

That doesn't even matter. How often have you needed to tow more than 3500 lbs? Never, right? Now how many times have *I* needed to tow more than 3500 lbs? A lot. A 3500 lb towing capacity would be as good as having no towing capacity at all. Sure, I may very rarely have to tow 10,000 lbs. But I would rather have a little extra room in there because the closer you get to your towing capacity the more strain you put on your transmission and tranfer case.

<<PKA was pointing out how fabulously environmentally friendly she was being by buying a minivan with good emissions numbers and low-ish gas mileage.>>

I don't think I ever used the words, so I am not quite sure why you are claiming that I am.
