SAH/WOH - Why?

I am sure this has been done before but I was wondering this in light of recent posts lately.

Why did you decide to sah/woh?

Was it a choice or something expected of you?

Was your plan to sah/woh though out or impulsive? Long-term or short-term?

Quite honestly, I cant imagine him breaking away while holding my hand-he never did that. And yes, walking to the car or through a parking lot, at a young age, if he wasnt in the cart or being held BY me, I held his hand. When we went busy places, he was in the stroller. He was never out of my sight, out of my reach, or put in the position of being able to *bolt* (although again, he just has never been the kind of kid to bolt in the first place).

By the time he was 3 (maybe 4) he knew to stay beside me. I still tend to hold his hand when we walk in busy areas though.

I could carry him till he was three pretty easily. Hes a scrawny kid, lol. I could hold him on my hip with packages on the other arm if I was leaving a mall, no big deal. Or if we were leaving the grocery store, I kept him in the cart until we reached the car.

Well and my kids were never the type to take off either. They always have been really good about staying close.

If I'd had a child that was prone to breaking free, he'd be in a stroller. Period.

I think we do all make mistakes as parents, we are human after all. The difference is in trying to learn from them, find better ways the next time, rather than just continuing to do the same stuff, dont you think?

No I would make him put his coat on and get out the door.

99% of the time mine don't involve a spanking.
