SAH/WOH - Why?

I am sure this has been done before but I was wondering this in light of recent posts lately.

Why did you decide to sah/woh?

Was it a choice or something expected of you?

Was your plan to sah/woh though out or impulsive? Long-term or short-term?

What did you do in that case?

Your girls must have been very calm and obedient at that age.

My 6 year old has no way of knowing, when he's in the house, how warm or cold it is supposed to get later in the day.

Just so we are clear, define discipline.

You can always hire a babysitter or wait until your DH gets home to go out to the store. That is what I did.

Don't take him with you.

"Quite honestly, I cant imagine him breaking away while holding my hand-he never did that. And yes, walking to the car or through a parking lot, at a young age, if he wasnt in the cart or being held BY me, I held his hand. When we went busy places, he was in the stroller. He was never out of my sight, out of my reach, or put in the position of being able to *bolt* (although again, he just has never been the kind of kid to bolt in the first place)."

So, basically, you have no practical solutions for moms of 2.5 year olds who *are* the kinds of kids to bolt in the first place.

So then you unloaded him and the groceries into the car, and left him in the car alone while you went to return the cart?

I couldn't push a stroller and a grocery cart at the same time.

We read the weather page in the paper every morning. Just because I won't *make* him take his jacket, doesn't mean I won't suggest it.
