SAH/WOH - Why?

I am sure this has been done before but I was wondering this in light of recent posts lately.

Why did you decide to sah/woh?

Was it a choice or something expected of you?

Was your plan to sah/woh though out or impulsive? Long-term or short-term?

Then I am lost. You said it is creepier that we don't lose control when our child gets a spanking. So which is it? Better to lose control and smack them with an object or be calm? You lost me.

That is a very good point. Why not serve soda every night and drink it right in front of them? They won't care. They have learned to make great choices since they were very young.

Oh yeah...it is her.

I just think spanking when you get flustered at them is one thing, but intentionally spanking them when you're cool, calm and collected is creepy.

Still not following. What does hitting with an object have to do with any of this? Why would spankers or anti-spankers even want to talk about that? I don't get what you mean about elevating things.

I used to, too. It wasn't that hard. If it is that difficult, then one must be shopping at prime hours.

You don't have to understand, it just is. We can't help what others say. At least one person said spanking is no different than striking with an object or slapping in the face.

That's my point! What does murder and abuse have to do with it either? Yet those (the anti-spankers) that brought up murder and abuse didn't get asked "what's that got to do with it?".

No. If it is that easy, then one must not be shopping at *MY* walmart.

What do you think would happen to a child in a locked car, strapped into a seatbelt or carseat that couldn't happen to a child somewhere else? (Short of the answer you gave earlier - crashing the windshield) If they can get out of their carseat and the keys aren't there, they can't do any harm. (unless the car is a stick and they can get it into neutral - if that is the case I wouldn't do it either). If you're thinking they could let themselves out of the car, then that would be a concern, but IMO still less of a risk than having them run away from you in a parking lot. Again, I'm not talking aisle away like pnj was, I'm just talking a few cars. And, IMO, if you have to park aisles away you are probably shopping at prime time.

Well I think spanking a child when you are out of control is creepy.
