SAH/WOH - Why?

I am sure this has been done before but I was wondering this in light of recent posts lately.

Why did you decide to sah/woh?

Was it a choice or something expected of you?

Was your plan to sah/woh though out or impulsive? Long-term or short-term?

No, you stated that she makes decision for them. You stated that you don't. And then you posted a situation about yourself in which you do that very thing.

What would be the natural consequence of letting a child climb on a fishtank? Please do enlighten me?

How many times has she tried to climb in the fish tank?

***I wonder if it was the idea of missing another library day - or of getting a spanking - which dissuaded her from then on?***

Probably a little of both.

Great post!

Twice. The first time, I told her no and removed her from the fish tank. The second time I told her no, and swatted her on the bottom. She hasn't done it since.

WONDERFUL. Thank you for saying it so well. That's *exactly* how I view it.

My kids and I referred to them as "mental health days". I don't remember it happening in elementary school, but in MS and HS my kids knew that I was open to allowing a few of them a year. Sometimes taking a little time off enabled them to head back to school the next day with a much better attitude.
