A 2 hour job every week? Every other week? That's not so much time. Divide the chores up among family members and it can be done in a few minutes.

Ah, so it's okay to leave or send children off with strangers but not allow them in your home.

two winters ago, two neighborhood boys came around and offered to shovel my driveway, deck and sidewalk. I gladly forked over $10 each -- yeah boys, go to town!

Sometimes. Not always. A kid with an earache might whine and I don't see how that's the parent's fault.

So you are concerned with their homework and you are responsible for their homework?

When I do my own housework, I am thinking "Who was the pig who left the hair on the drain?" or thinking about what I will do for the rest of the day or whatever else is on my mind. Don't you think that a housecleaner is thinking the same things?

Mine come for four hours once a week. Your examples is something my family does nightly, we have a chore list that we do daily. My housekepper does the heavy, deep cleaning, not the daily sanatizing picking up.

reading it all morning?? LOL! It's hard to do that when I have kids on microscopes. However, I had 2-3 minutes to check e-mail before heading down to my 42 minute lunch period.

Oh, and now, if you MUST know, I'm headed off to have kids make up their quizzes from their study halls.
