That's not a child whining - that's a child in pain! How can you possibly equate the two?

Yes, because you asked that question.

a person can not take an hour or 2 out of their time to take care of their own property or their own selves? Is that the example that we should set for our children, let someone else do the work that you don't want to do? You have to write an essay for college? Hire out the help!

Blank slate? That was your absurd take on my post that probably their minds wandered while doing these things. I NEVER said blank slate. I did say "autopilot". So perhaps you think they are synonymous. But what "autopilot" actually means is that no focus or concentration is needed because the work is automatic, leaving the mind free to wander to other things- which might be "what pig left this mess?" or might be anything else at all. But "blank slate" is a state that is not actually possible for humans to have without brain death. So I'm not sure why you brought it up.

And that's what I'm asking you: What does it matter to you and how does it relate to this debate?

If I went over to the neighbor's house and asked to fold his laundry, he'd probably quietly ask my husband if I had a brain tumour. Because it isn't socially acceptable to do that (as it is to ask if the neighbor would like the snow shoveled). Some things it is just assumed that a person will specifically ask for the service. Although I've been cold-called by housecleaning services.

However, I have walked his dog and fed somebody else's cat on many ocassions.
