i thought it really was common knowledge since iam familiar with quite a few districts that do this, i do not know the details, i would like to am researching it, it is too bad imo that you have no idea how to research it on your own plus seem to refuse to because you believe i have no link to suppport it as matter of fact. Isnt the fact that Iam experiencing this right now in our schools proff enough that it is a fact, in some school's.
Okay, i was only asking you what it was specifically i stated originally that led you to believe i knew details after i made it claer i did not. Forget it, i think we are simply misunderstanding.
No , need to appologize, i was looking for what it was i said exactly so i can see how i may have mislead.
I never said that they have to like it. I said it probably doesn't bother them. I don't like every thing my boss asks me to do. But it is in no way degrading for him to ask me to do so.
"They might find it degrading to be told, "Oh, fold my husbands' underwear when you get a chance." Or "scrub my toilet under the rim. You missed a spot the last time."
Someone who has contracted to do a job should not have to be given step by step directions. If their job is to fold the family's laundry then there would be no reason for them to be told to do so. You are right if someone is micormanaging it would be degrading but there is not indication that that is what is being done in this situation. In fact it seems to be more of the opposite, instead of being micromanaged the employees are given a lot of leeway to use their own judgement.
"I think people that need to have people do that for them feel they are too good, to put it mildly, or too important for their own selves to complete those tasks. They feel it's beneath them to scrub a toilet or do their own dirty laundry.
Really, my take on it is that people who hire such things do so because they have the funds and don't want to do it themselves. I think that in most cases superioity has nothing to do with it.
"and pay them a pittance for it."
Since most housecleaners make more per hour than I do I do not consider it a pittance.
"Let me ask you: a guy who just got out of prison and is making burgers at a local fast food joint and sees a woman come in and complains about something or says "I asked for no ketchup on this burger.", what do you think he does to the next burger? Just food for thought."
I think so, too. I think our district guidelines for elementary school are something like 15 mins a night per grade, starting in first grade, so a second grader here would have maybe a half hour a night. My fifth grader barely has a half hour a night not counting the "read for 20 minutes a day" or whatever it is. My kids read every night anyway, I don't really have to have them count minutes.
Oh, I though i was clear Iam living in illionois and moving to F-cat land which would be FLorida. Sorry.
I do not feel the need to support the fact that some teachers do get better pay becasue of high achievemnt test scores i do not know the setails i cant explain i just know it happens. I though if she was really "interested" in researching it furthur she would do it herself since i do not know the details.
Anyway she could have goggled the key words and she may have found information if she really wanted was interested or have a debate.
Now do not get me wrong, I am in huge support for teachers to be paid better.

What does this have to do with the post you are responding to?

Then perhaps as I asked before you could give me a name of a district or a state that practices this?
PumpkinAngel
Your right, Im getting very confused.
Iam not meaning to criticizing you, If i was i would have used much different wording.
I just do not see the relevance in your question, how is it related to anything stated. How is that asking for clarity?
IMO being productive is asking a direct question ...could you clarify, not put wrods into a statment to make it your question.
No more to say really, just looking for some clarity, but see at times it is understandably hard to hash out on the board.

All i can say to you is if you do not believe it to be true you need to research it yourself.
Iam not asking you to support your views. Iam asking what were my spoecific words that lead you to ask me for details?
It is a innocent curiosity i have and why i asked.

What does that have to do with this thread?

But how can she do so without even a STATE of which to research?

No, she is asking YOU to support YOURS. That's a main compoenent of debate; supporting your views. Otherwise it's just arguing.
