Oh, I see I dont invest much logic in marthat stewarts line of thought...she really is not a mentor i do not follow her approach of owning your own home, entertaining, anything ect...i much prefer simplicity :)

My cleaning lady is like family to us, if she stole from me was honest held herself accountable like a adult i would still trust her. We all make mistakes.

If it was a problem i would let her go.

Their would have to be a sever reason my cleaning lady would steal from me and i would give her the benifit of the doubt b/c she was honest and was responsible for her action's by comming clean.

Man, I'd love it you could pay my bills. Then I really COULD afford a cleaning service.

Like Martha cleans her own home, does her own remodeling, mows her own lawn .... She even hires othercare for her kids. Martha is NOT some panacea of the perfect house. Unless it's the bighouse.

That's because yesterday all you irresponsible teachers were ignoring your students and wasting taxpayer money and posting here all day instead!

My kids don't do anything for more then 1 hour at a time at school, my classes were never longer then that in school either even in highschool. Why do grade schoolers need to do anything for longer then an hour? I can't think of any subject that would last even an hour, there's at least a little break as they switch subjects. The younger kids get 3 recesses a day I think my 4th grader only gets 2. They have gym twice a week. Art,music, library are once a week.

I don't get all the comparisons about school in such a negative way, every state is different sometimes even each school district. I honestly had never heard of early dismissal 1 day every week as your kids have, doesn't mean I think anything is wrong with it.

My kids are in school 32 hours a week.

What grade is your oldest in? my 4th grader doesn't even have an hour a night. He really only has 1 night of homework(spelling that takes 15 minutes), the rest is studing which takes 30-45 minutes and that's usually 3-4 nights a week.

The first and second grader have 2 nights of homework that takes at most 20 minutes. my kids go to a Christian school and teachers are not allowed to assign homework on Wednesy night because many kids go to church then but they can have a test on Thursdays so studying may be neccesary.

and some kids need MUCH, MUCH more structure than that. It's easy to sit back and say, "well, just let them fail then", but if the shoes were on your feet, you might react differently when the courses matter in high school.

you're lucky that you have children that seem to "get" school. others have a much longer learning curve.

homework is non-negotiable in our house as well. however, some kids need more structure for that homework completion to occur.
