Should US taxes pay for nannies?

I don't know where to start. But a nanny has been caught on a nanny cam hitting and shaking infant. It's upsetting video but I'm really really glad mom shared this publicly:

The comments are what concern me. From, mom should've taken matters into her own hands. And US taxpayers pay for public schools, social security, welfare, so why not for daycare?

Oh, I totally agree with you. US defense spending is obscene. Particularly in light of actual, real needs of actual, real Americans. It's indefensible (ha! see what I did there??) that we're all about cutting social programs but wringing our hands that sequestration demands across the board cuts of defense spending.

Puss, agreed. Especially since a lot of defense spending is basically corporate welfare. It is good for the economy that the feds are pumping all this money around through the defense industry, but the same money could just as easily be pumped around by building better infrastructure for young families.
