Sneaking purchases...

I was reading another board about sneaking purchases past their husband's. I know I use to sneak before we started doing our finances together. I would actually come home during lunch to get the mail or unload packages. I was pitiful. Even now, I will bring things in the house and wince thinking how upset Devin would be with me.

So, have you ever hid purchases or not told your DH the whole picture of your finances? We use to horrible fights about finances. I would do the weekly budget and e-mail him it. We would discuss it and everything was fine. Then, he would tell me two days later that he was doing a marathon that cost $75.00. I had to actually ask him before we did the budget-Do you have any marathons? Do you need shoes? Do you have any equipment you need? Can you tell I

I got the Plikomatic instead of a double stroller, and it has worked pretty well for us. The little stand on the back might not work too well for a larger child, but our very petite 4 1/2 yo is still fairly comfortable there. When the baby was younger, I just carried her in the Baby Bjorn if dd#1 wanted to ride. I still keep the backpack in the car just in case. I could count on one had the number of times I wished that we had a double stroller. By the way, the Plikomatic comes with a cup holder now, but ours broke off on its first airplane ride ; )

Well, I hope you don't have anything against cheap Target Character shoes, and if you do, keep it to yourself, don't share that with your children. A few weeks ago at school, it was PE day so they got to wear their gym shoes with their uniforms and ds was so excited to have his new Hot Wheels World Race Shoes on. He was showing the other little boys in excitement at the working speedometer on the heels, and one little boy said "my mom says those kind of shoes are garbage". Talk about popping a balloon, at first I wanted to run over and hug ds and say "dont listen" but he handled it pretty well for himself with a "they are not! and they are faster than yours". ANd here I am immaturely in my head thinking "so is your car Gavin, HA" but it just bothered me that this kid was 'picking' on my son over it. Talk about the claws wanting to rip out at this kid to protect my cub, but I bit my lip and my son handled himself smoothly! I know that yes, 10 years ago, I said the same thing, ugh cheap character shoes are garbage and I'll never buy those for my kids, no way. But, ds wants them, and so I buy them. Nope, they don't last as long as the other ones he has, but he likes them, he is happy. And I'm happy that ds has the self confidence not to crawl home and say he doesn't want to wear the shoes anymore because so-and-so said they were garbage. We can afford better, but ds chooses what he chooses. But what if we couldn't afford better? What if ds could only have cheap shoes and his self confidence was shaken by an episode like that. Anyways, just be careful with your attitudes around your children :)

Where would you go that your 4.5 year old wouldn't walk?

Well, I'm not a biblical theologan, I can't quote quotes outta my head like you ladies, I know the basic ones that the catholic church uses over and over, but not much more. I find that Christians are better bible quoters than catholics, while we believe in both testaments, we really focus on the the birth, death, and resurection of our lord and the scriptures that go hand in hand with our belief in sacraments. And I guess that is one more good thing about being Catholic-- I can repent during my last rites about only giving 10% of my income in cash and the rest being in *petty service* and still get through the pearly gates (wink) :)
