Sneaking purchases...

I was reading another board about sneaking purchases past their husband's. I know I use to sneak before we started doing our finances together. I would actually come home during lunch to get the mail or unload packages. I was pitiful. Even now, I will bring things in the house and wince thinking how upset Devin would be with me.

So, have you ever hid purchases or not told your DH the whole picture of your finances? We use to horrible fights about finances. I would do the weekly budget and e-mail him it. We would discuss it and everything was fine. Then, he would tell me two days later that he was doing a marathon that cost $75.00. I had to actually ask him before we did the budget-Do you have any marathons? Do you need shoes? Do you have any equipment you need? Can you tell I

Do you even read your own posts? Or those posted in response?

YOU SAID <<"Full-time" is a term commonly used to talk about employment (traditionally "full-time" is considered that 40 to 50 hours a week that a person spends on their job). >>

You stated, quite rightly, that FT is a term used to talk about "employment". Being a mom or a dad is not *employment*. Therefore, by your own definition, FT can't be used to describe parenting.

<<Did you ever pay for child care during the day while you were at work? >>

Totally irrelevant as to whether or not parenting is employment.

I'm saying being a parent is not *employment*, therefore, by your own definition, FT can't be used to describe parenting.

I made absolutely no statements about your value or mine.

Hell woman, your own post didn't relate to what you were responding to. Your value as a SAH had absolutely nothing to do with my post.

Pumpkin's post, otoh, directly related to yours. You said <<Are you saying my job has less value than yours?>> so she responded with <

My ds totally wears out expensive shoes just as quickly as he wears out cheap payless shoes, so I figure, why bother!

Hey Smokey--your charitable donations are none of my beeswax. But I will say this--thanks for supporting the ballet and symphony! I enjoy both very much. I spotted your name on the program last time I was at the ballet.

My DD NEVER complains about her cheesey shoes; I finally went to Stride Right to have her fitted and bought a pair of tennies & sandals for the summer - and - you guessed it! BLISTERS on her little toesies!

Good grief, back to Target!!

Greetings from an alternate universe...

The only item of white clothing I own is my wedding dress, and I don't get the chance to wear that too often. I think I have a purse in a closet somewhere, but normally I just carry a wallet or a nylon travel bag the size of a hotpad.

I do understand that you dress in a way that is appropriate to the environment in which you live and work, as do I, but I get a kick out of your posts because the world you live in is soooo different from mine.

But it's so awfully important to support their arches and foot growth.

I've done the same thing at Kohl's. They often have very good sales on shoes for the kids.

Yes, places like airports, parking lots, etc. She tends to dawdle - stopping to pick up rocks, look at a dog in a car window, step in puddles. We call it being on "Gracie time." So if we're in a hurry, it's easier to just have her stand on the back of the stroller. That way we don't have to watch out for her or coax her to keep up with us. It's probably been 6 months since I actually used the backpack so that Grace could ride in the stroller, but we used to do it occasionally so she could sleep if we were somewhere that she didn't want to be (i.e., the mall). We also did that walking around downtown Chicago last fall.
