Sneaking purchases...

I was reading another board about sneaking purchases past their husband's. I know I use to sneak before we started doing our finances together. I would actually come home during lunch to get the mail or unload packages. I was pitiful. Even now, I will bring things in the house and wince thinking how upset Devin would be with me.

So, have you ever hid purchases or not told your DH the whole picture of your finances? We use to horrible fights about finances. I would do the weekly budget and e-mail him it. We would discuss it and everything was fine. Then, he would tell me two days later that he was doing a marathon that cost $75.00. I had to actually ask him before we did the budget-Do you have any marathons? Do you need shoes? Do you have any equipment you need? Can you tell I

My boys are out of the character and light up shoe stage. Believe me, we had our share of them. DS1 is now into the "what's cool and expensive" stage, and DS2 doesn't give a rat's behind if he even wears shoes. LOL! My boys are so completely different when it comes to what they like in the way of clothing. DS1 has to look put together and cool, DS2 goes for strictly comfort.

We were going to go to an open house for a local private school and DS2 looks at us and says, "I have one question. Do I have to wear special clothes?" When we told him he wouldn't be able to wear his sweatpants, he said, "That's it. I'm not going." LOL! He is my loveable slob. :-) He reminds me of Pig Pen from the Peanuts characters. Dirt jumps up and is attracted to him! LOL!

<> so do mine! As a matter of fact, they recently got shoes from WalMart and they're wearing pretty darned well. DS1 had Nike's at the beginning of the year and he killed them as easily as the cheap shoes.

It's ok. I'm getting my payback. Our 15 month old doesn't sleep in public or private. Come to think of it, the 4.5 yo didn't sleep in the stroller when she was younger. She just will now if she's bored!

Well, my DD outgrows shoes every 3 months. She is 2 1/2 and wears a size 10!!!! There is no way I am dropping $40 on a pair of shoes she will only wear for a few months....I am too po' for that!!! Plus, she loves her Dora the Explorer boots and would sleep with them if we let her ;) (She chose them herself...hee hee)

If you insist on the job definition of parenting then have it. You take to much time to get your work done. Other people are managing to get just as much done, and turning out work that is just as good, in less time. The boss is probably going to have a word with you about it soon.

I truly amazed you took the time to plow through all of that...

Since you did, you'd recall that I said it wasn't perfect terminology....

I wasn't insisting parenting is employment, however, since you mention it...it is employment in a sense. I would have to pay for child care if I didn't do it myself. The reason I don't get paid dollars is because it would be silly to pay myself! Besides, I get lots of rewards that are not monetary.
