Sneaking purchases...

I was reading another board about sneaking purchases past their husband's. I know I use to sneak before we started doing our finances together. I would actually come home during lunch to get the mail or unload packages. I was pitiful. Even now, I will bring things in the house and wince thinking how upset Devin would be with me.

So, have you ever hid purchases or not told your DH the whole picture of your finances? We use to horrible fights about finances. I would do the weekly budget and e-mail him it. We would discuss it and everything was fine. Then, he would tell me two days later that he was doing a marathon that cost $75.00. I had to actually ask him before we did the budget-Do you have any marathons? Do you need shoes? Do you have any equipment you need? Can you tell I

Boy, you sure can sssttreettcchh the interpretation of a post can't you? Is that a skill you were born with or one you have mastered since posting here? You seem to have some insecurities about how your own work status may be affecting your kids. There are people IRL you can talk to about that...

I would hope that I can convey to my dd that you absolutely CAN have it all, just not all at the same time.

LOL, if theres one thing I am NOT insecure about, its my work status. Did you even read my response to your other post? Why is your automatic assumption that I must be one of those *evil* wohms, leaving my kids at dc 50 hrs a week?

And yet again, what ABOUT your dh?????? Still ignored THAT question I see.

>>>Pardon me I believe you called them "personal jabs" <<<<

Please direct me to the post where I accused anyone of personal jabs, otherwise, get your facts and posters straight here, b/c I am pretty certain it wasn't me, not anytime recently.

>>>What you just described was an INVOLVED parent and yes they do make a world of difference, <<<

No, what I described is why those 40+ hrs a week that I spend with my kids that some don't, do make a difference, and yes it also describes an involved parent, but the post was directed at those extra 40 hours, so read carefully, and respond intelligently, please.

I believe I was calling you on the fact that you don't finish debates and just fade away without finishing anything.

So how exactly has parenting changed in the last 20 years? What makes 2004 different from 1984?

I seriously hope that that is a rhetorical question. Do you need versed on ALL of the things that we have learned about child-rearing in the past 20 yrs? Let's just take major issues-breastfeeding being so far superior than any man-made child feed, effects of too much t.v., poor nutrition choices, effects of certain types of discipline, causes of SIDS and ways to prevent it...do I go on? All of these areas have had VAST advances in the last 20 yrs...if you think nothing haas changed, you need to educate yourself.

Anyone can assert ANYTHING, without factual data. This debate is not a new one, but the only data that I have seen is that kids put in extended hours (over 30 hours)
