Sneaking purchases...

I was reading another board about sneaking purchases past their husband's. I know I use to sneak before we started doing our finances together. I would actually come home during lunch to get the mail or unload packages. I was pitiful. Even now, I will bring things in the house and wince thinking how upset Devin would be with me.

So, have you ever hid purchases or not told your DH the whole picture of your finances? We use to horrible fights about finances. I would do the weekly budget and e-mail him it. We would discuss it and everything was fine. Then, he would tell me two days later that he was doing a marathon that cost $75.00. I had to actually ask him before we did the budget-Do you have any marathons? Do you need shoes? Do you have any equipment you need? Can you tell I

Nice post, Felicia. I was wondering what "life experiences" she was talking about that our kids would be missing out on.

Personally i don't think there is a real need to measure kids' feet with the thingymabob. A shoe fits or it doesn't. Using the thingy only tells you where to start trying, not what shoe is gonna fit. And I already know where to start trying because my kid is already wearing shoes.

i.e. He's in a 7 currently, so I start with 7s. If those squish his toes or feel too tight around the ball of the foot, I move to an 8, or try a different style. What would I gain with the measure thingymabob?

I've never bought ds anything but Payless/WalMart/etc shoes. They've neither one had a problem with their feet, walking, running, etc. I did buy dd a *real* pair of athletic shoes from Foot Locker a while back, and they didn't last any longer than the Payless ones because she outgrew it before it could wear out anyway. I would have been better off saving $40 and buying some at Payless.

Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.  Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.

I don't know about *many* but sure I bet some do as you did.

Sure, but if they were very uncomfortable, they would change DCPs. We are not stuck with a DCP that we don't feel comfortable with.

< Wouldn't some WOHMs quit if they could afford it because of a fear that the dc provider is not treating their children as well as they could themselves?>

Maybe some, but not I. There's no such fear for me.

I pay less than that at the SR Outlet store. Gotta love the outlet stores.
