Sneaking purchases...

I was reading another board about sneaking purchases past their husband's. I know I use to sneak before we started doing our finances together. I would actually come home during lunch to get the mail or unload packages. I was pitiful. Even now, I will bring things in the house and wince thinking how upset Devin would be with me.

So, have you ever hid purchases or not told your DH the whole picture of your finances? We use to horrible fights about finances. I would do the weekly budget and e-mail him it. We would discuss it and everything was fine. Then, he would tell me two days later that he was doing a marathon that cost $75.00. I had to actually ask him before we did the budget-Do you have any marathons? Do you need shoes? Do you have any equipment you need? Can you tell I

No, my nanny only watches two kids, one fewer than yours.

Loving my children is not one of the requirements of her job (even though she does).

You are the SAHM of three children under age 5 and there's never "an ounce of drudgery" in your day?

I thought IIMA works in children's services not DC so I would think that she sees a lot of at risk kids not the happy ones. Tinzer, on the other hand, is in DC and her posts clearly state the kind of positive bond between the DCP and her kids.

Just thought I'd chime in. My DCP owns four homes and is financially independent. She takes on kids for partial pay, and has kept kids for extended periods of time for FREE.

<< And the WOHMS are no more in the minds of the dcp than I. I never claimed to know better the internal workings of the dcp's mind than would the WOHM. Instead, I am 36, I know a lot about human nature by now, so I'd say my opinion is equally valid.>>

OKAY. so i'll raise you 4 years since i'm 40. I have 3 kids and have been a parent for 12.5 YEARS, 2 of them are special needs. I have 12 YEARS of experience using ALL different forms of dc. My best friend WAS a dcp for 7 YEARS. So, i would say that MY opinion AND experience are way, way more valid than yours. but thanks for playing.

Actually I think WOHM do have a better insight into what goes on with their DCP. We talk to our DCP. We see it in our kid(s)' eyes, in their interaction with the DCP, and the way they talk about them. Those of us with DCP have seen them "in action" as well. SAHMs who have never used DC have had no first hand exposure.

I asked my nanny gad of questions during our interview. I never asked her: "will you love my dd?"

Teaching my children? I thought we were discussing the love of children by the majority of dcps in a dc setting? Where educating children is concerned, I'm certain sending a child to school has nothing to do with parenting skills. So I think your insult can't really register there, can it?

Since you ask, I won't be paying someone to teach my babes. We pay large school taxes here, but I don't think that's what you're implying. Other than to bait, I really don't see where your response is heading. It takes just a wee bit more intellectual creativity than I think you're capable of to get to me! But thanks for trying. I do enjoy a good debate when my opponent has a half a brain.

You're not always very nice either. is this, do as i say, not as i do??? lauren debates very diplomatically, and i just dont see what you are describing. its a debate, not "dont step on anyones toes with your opinion".
