Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

Oh, your mistake. But then again you were mistaken in bringing my husband into this at all since I was discussing dating.

But I know you've always had a thing for my husband! You'll bring him up in future posts where he is again completely irrelevant to the debate. Funny...I never seem to bring up your DH. It just doesn't seem fair.

My mistake -- did you date all of the men you dated for money or love?

No, no offense was taken. I have to say I may be poor as a church mouse doing the work I do but damn I have met some really interesting people! Two weeks ago we had Carol Channing here at the theater doign a benefit for an Aids services organization and my dd's two godfathers came up for the show - I had told Miss channing they were coming when i met her before the show, and explained theyw ere huge fans etc.. -- so after the show she said to them "oh you're Katie's Friends, come give me a hug boys!!!!-- my dd's godfather #1 loked at me and said 'i'm now in gay heaven..." LOL

That's so funny. Ms. Channing looks as young as I am! And she's honest about it all.

And you're not poor! Your DD's in a great school and your salary (if I remember you posted it here) sounds terrific.

thanks...she is in a great school and I know I have it better than 99% of single working moms...but it is a struggle with gas and grocery prices out of control...but I'm getting by just fine ...I just wish I could afford a real vacation somewhere ..maybe next year!

You are doing better than me. I only know people who know people. Although at swim team practice last week, I became somewhat chatty with the reporter who helped take down Senator Allen last year. She is now the weekend anchor for a local tv station.

No, I said the only time I have never given a gift was when I was the "date". My dh (then bf) gave the gift to equal the both of us.

well it's only b/c of the sector I work in and the state I work in! Plus you should come up here these days -- it's primary season in full force and you can't swing a cat without hitting a candidate... ;-)

No, please keep them for a while!! It is nice in DC without them. Copter activity is managable too.
