Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

YOU? Don't tell ME what *I* do. And the *general you* here isn't appropriate, as that isn't the case all over the world. It might be how *you* (the specific you) do it, but that does not mean that's how all the rest of the world does it.

I think you are just picking at this too much. Yes, I will bring a present to a party that I am invited to but that is just common sense. This is not a celebration (maybe because I just for for the food and commercials and not into the actual game-lol!). I will bring a gift for anything someone is celebrating in their life.

I wasn't speaking of you.

So you would go to a wedding and both of you would hand the couple envelopes? Why? Wouldn't you just give one gift as a couple?

"And further, no evidence that the person in question bought a dress, shoes or had her hair and nails done. I've never done any of that for anyone's wedding but my own. Oh wait! I didn't do all of that for my own wedding."

Seriously? What occasion would warrant a new dress or shoes or hair done if not for your own wedding?

You don't have to get nasty. Who do you invite to showers then?

Yes. I was surprised how artfully and well my bridesmaids rounded up all my friends. DH helped them (behind my back!).

Did you have a bachelorette party too?

My bridesmaids took me into the city. We went to a nice restaurant and had food, drinks and dancing. My sister was with us so we could not get into many places (she was 16). After the wedding a bunch of us got together to have another party as my sister did not go but we eneded up at the same place-lol!

What history? And you did say in a post that you wrote a post with two of those items in it.
