Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

No. We went to a mexican restaurant on the island. They cater to the brides and it was hilarious. We then went bar hopping.

The question, really, is why *wouldn't* you, if that's what you felt like doing? That makes two of us who don't see why this is so hard to understand.

Fun! I also went to several places on Madison Ave (with my Mom!) to try on gowns, but ended up with an inexpensive Bagdley Mischka from Kleinfelds, of course. The gown I bought for an upcoming wedding in Manhattan costs 4 times what I paid for my wedding gown!!

Did you give anything special to the bridesmaids? I hosted a spa day for me/them! Good times.

Exactly. If only for the sake of convenience and economy. Let's save the trees, people!

I don't know of anyone giving 2 envelopes per couple. If you are going as a couple, you bring one from both of you. I would have NEVER thought twice of bringing my own. I also never thought of giving money for myself as I was the date and my bf took care of it.

But what about the trees? Didn't you say you go "green" at parties?

Again, who is this *you* you are speaking of? How do you presume to speak for so many others?

She never said her date was giving a gift for the both of them. And even if he was, she gave a gift regardless. Maybe you don't see the point, but that doesn't mean nobody else could.
