Ok, with all the wedding talk and what to give for gifts, I am NOW, after going to weddings for almost 20 years-lol! invited to an outdoor wedding in someone's home.
Here is the scenario:
Bride and Groom (she 22, he 36)
Living together for over 3 years
Groom-12 year old son
Bride and Groom-have a 3 year old and she is due with their 2nd in August
Wedding:
At her mother's house-catered food from restaurant

I know in other posts I said I would probably give the same as a sit down reception but we were orally invited to this wedding so I assume they are doing this just to get married before the 2nd child arrives. I have NO clue now what to do about a gift-lol!!

I think the key word that sticks out for me here is still "couple". Two people attending a wedding together are not necessarily a "couple", and if they aren't, wouldn't it seem more appropriate to give their gifts separately?

Bridal showers aren't always large gatherings involving all of the women who might be invited to a wedding, and they don't always involve men, either.

It's clear you don't. But the point is to give a gift, that's all.

I personally think no but I know I am in the minority here. If you are not a couple then why wouldn't you both get invitations? The person who the invitation was addressed to should be the one (at least how I feel) giving the gift.

I agree with you. I have never been to one that all the women invited to the wedding was invited to the shower. I also have never been to a shower that men came.

Absolutely! My teenage dd's assure me there are all kinds of couples: couple couples, who are doing what we would have called "going steady", "friends" couples, who just hang out together, and "friends with benefits", who hang out together but who also "share benefits". And there are even more!

To recycle the card, you just cut up something and paste it over the original signatures, add stickers, whatever. No trees need die over cards or wrapping paper if you're creative!
